Chapter 1: The Name
Silverfeather’s POV
“Then, by the powers of StarClan, I give you your true name as a medicine cat. Featherpaw, from this moment you shall be known as Featherfrost. StarClan honors your knowledge and certainty, and we welcome you as a full medicine cat of Waterclan.” My voice bellows as the she-cat opens her eyes and looks at me. I can’t help but sort of…I don’t know…loose myself in her green eyes. She says something and I don’t quite catch it. All I can do is nod and hope she wasn’t asking me something. I turn and wait for Featherfrost to leave the Moonpool first. As she walks past me I catch her scent again. It smells sort of like flowers with the hint of the herbs in the medicine den mixed. Following quickly behind her, a smile escapes my face. “Featherfrost, Are you glad to have your name and be a medicine cat?” The words come from my mouth and I wait for her response. “Yes Silverfeather, I’m really glad.” My pace has quickened and before I know it I’m walking beside her through the territory. That’s when I start to think about her new name. Featherfrost. The voice in my head whispers it continuously. It’s a very beautiful name and it suits her nicely. I come to think and look around to see we are approaching our camp and should arrive soon. I glance occasionally at her and my thoughts linger around ways to start a conversation. My mouth stays shut and we continue on to camp without really exchanging words. As we arrive I swing by the fresh kill pile and grab a nice trout and head back to the Medicine Cat den. Featherfrost is in there and I sit by her. “Are you hungry?” I meow to her glancing back and forth between the trout and her eyes. She answers yes and I let her take the first bite politely. We take turns biting into the fresh prey. I can tell she is probably tired so I sit by the herbs sorting them and watching her. I then stretch and put the herbs where they belong. Featherfrost is being very quiet so I assume she is gone or asleep. Laying down in my own nest I look at her for the last time tonight, my head is finally rested and theres only one thing on my mind as I drift off. Her name. Featherfrost.
