Chapter Three: The Pain
Before I begin, let me say that at this point in the story, I am faced with horrible truths. If you wish, you don't have to read anymore of this tragedy. Try reading something happier, such as Bravewind's story or Mousepaw's story. Infact, this point of the story is so horrible that present tense is not welcome.
I ran as fast as I could. I had to escape. I needed to flee. For a moment I wondered if becoming a rogue would be necessary in this situation, but decided that it depended on what my Clanmates thought. I darted up a tree and curled up. A raindrop plopped on my nose, and soon enough it began to pour. Just what I need. I realized that the droplets on my cheeks were my own tears. I was crying. Glancing around to check if I was completely alone, I stood up on the branch. I looked up at the starry sky, knowing Ghostcloud and Fadefur were probably there, and yowled as loud as I could. It was more of a scream, actually. I waited for a reply. I wanted something. Anything. Then I cried harder. So hard, in fact, that I just couldn't stop. Lightning flashed overhead. Looking down, I saw cats gathering to stare at me. I'm a monster! I'm a killer! I need to die! I looked back up at the sky and screamed, "Kill me! Throw everything you've got at me!" I cried even harder. I knew this pain would never end. What I didn't know was that it would get worse soon enough....
